Have you ever heard of Drums Alive, Piloxing, SH'BAM, or Nightclub Cardio? Introducing some new ideas to spruce up your fitness routines.

Staying motivated can be pretty hard sometimes, but once you get over that first hurdle of establishing an exercise routine you can run into another one as your workouts become stale and boring. There are only so many exercises to do, right? Not so true. There are a ton of new exercise styles out there, it's just a matter of finding and testing them out to see if they are a good fit for you. Below are just a few of many exercise styles you can add to your fitness regime.

Introducing Drums Alive

Drums Alive was created by Carrie Ekins as a way of coping with her limitations of movement after a hip injury. By drumming on boxes, she was able to both have fun and improve her physical health. The Drums Alive program combines aerobic dance with the rhythmic beats of the drum (big stability balls are used as the drum in the classes).

Research has shown that drumming has many health benefits. It improves and increases the connection between the left and right brain, which can lead to increased concentration, improved coordination, and an overall sense of well being. Drumming may also have a positive effect on the immune system. Reduction of stress is an additional benefit since the drumming technique can be used as a form of "aggression release".

Besides teaching classes for the general population there are two specialized programs offered as well: Golden Beats, specifically designed for seniors and Kids Beats, which is, of course, for kids.

Introducing PILOXING

PILOXING was created by Viveca Jensen and is a mix of Pilates, boxing, and dance. This technique also incorporates the use of weighted gloves which tone the arms and maximizes cardiovascular health. These one hour classes are based on interval training - current research shows that interval training burns the most calories and is the most effective method of improving cardiovascular health. The PILOXING technique also encourages barefoot training because it has been discovered that by simply taking shoes off while working out it can greatly improve posture, balance stamina and prevent injuries...so no need to search for that perfect pair of sneakers!

Aside from the traditional PILOXING class, there are two others to choose from: PILOXING LITE , which is the non-impact, low intensity version of the traditional PILOXING movements and PILOXING Barre Technique, which incorporates the use of a ballet barre.

Introducing SH'BAM

SH'BAM was created by former Olympic athlete Les Mills and is a 45-minute class that includes individualized choreography for each of 12 different dance tracks. It is designed for people of all fitness levels so all can enjoy and benefit from this workout. A new program is released every three months in order to keep the workout routines fresh. Recommendations suggest to take a SH'BAM class at least three times a week.

Benefits of the SH'BAM workout include improving coordination and increasing cardiovascular fitness. Classes are set up in an interval training fashion for the ultimate fat burn.

Introducing Nightclub Cardio

Nightclub Cardio was created by Jennifer Brugh and combines exercise with dance moves in a club setting. It includes hip-hop, pop, free-style, disco, latin, bollywood, swing dance and more. Classes are 1 hour long and ages 13 and up are welcome to attend and the water is supplied for you.

If you also desire you can gather a group of 40 or more to get a private custom experience. They are specifically looking for people who dread the treadmill, are bored doing the same routine week after week and are looking for a new way to workout, as well as those feeling that they are uncoordinated and have a difficult time following dance fitness classes.
